Water Testing Requirements

According to Oregon Revised Statute (ORS) 448.271(1), when selling real estate in Bend and Central Oregon that includes a domestic well, property owners are legally required to test the water for arsenic, nitrate, and total coliform bacteria. A domestic well is defined as a water source used for drinking and other household purposes. Once testing is complete, results must be disclosed to the real estate buyer and submitted to the Oregon Drinking Water Programwithin 90 days of receiving the test results.
